It is our mission to detox the US, one family at a time.  Hawaii is one of the

10 ‘cities’ involved in this ambitious and inspired project.  Other include the

Phoenix area, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas to start.

The Detoxing of the body means to get a person’s body to an alkaline state,

rather than acidic.  Most are aware of the positive value associated with be

I gave them one star out of five.

I bought a brand new Elantra in WI.  When I shipped myself here to get married, I brought the Elantra, too.  I ONLY knew of Tony Hyundai and of course, needed to maintain my car, so I went there.

As I had my car serviced, I enjoyed coffee, the TV, the surroundings and they didn’t mind that I brought work in while  waiting.  A couple of times I used the shuttle, but a few times, it seemed that the shuttle seemed to be somewhat negotiatle, not on a hard schedule.  A few times.

I met one of their sales people and he’s fantastic.  Due to this reivew, I will not mention his name.  He did a great job of selling my wife and I a car for her.  We LOVE our Tucson.  My wife’s car had been giving her problems before the new purchase, she gladly offered to trade it in.  At that point her Kia Rio (admittedly a tuna can) had around 40K miles on it.  The body was not perfect and there was engine issues.  

They offered her 500 ONLY for her trade.  I understand we had the choice to accept or not, and we did.  It still was a ripoff.  Obviously we did not want to have to sell it on Craigs List, but I am sure that with a little work, Tony resold for it for at least 6k.  (We learned our lesson.)

As I continued to come to Tony I felt that they only wanted my business if they could charge me at least 500 each time.  Some of what I did WAS on Warranty, and that is one of the reasons I bought a Hyundai.  However, alomst every time I received a printout of all the things they wanted to fix, and had to make decisions to go elsewhere to save money.  Every time I did that, I saved money or found out that I did not need to have that work done.  Except one time, I believe.

One time I towed the car in for some work and it happened to be on Employee Appreciation Day.  I had to wait for hours, and they really did not want to fix it, it seemed.  I had a real good idea what the problem was, but they kept ‘checking or testing’ or whatever.  I had talks with the service person (lady) and then the Service Manager.  Finally, I stopped a manager from one of the other Tony Brands and he was helpful.  I finally got serviced, and the car was fixed ‘enough’ to drive back home to town.

The next day, I had to have another Service Person, at Kahala Shell take a look at my engine and he was surprised.  He asked me who had worked on it and when I told him the dealer, he seemed concerned.  He felt that the engine had been tampered with and even sabotaged.  We finally got the car fixed, but I had lost my trust for Tony then.

As I accompanied my wife to get her Tucson serviced (oil change) last week, I asked the Service Dept. to quote a price to fix my transmission issue.  I had gotten a diagnostic report from a friend who does service, (but was too busy to take it in.)  The Parts Guy was a nice guy and gave me two engine diagrams showing me the exact part, or what he thought was the correct part.  Shift Solenoid D was what the diagnostic had said.

The parts guy could not give me a quote.

I called back and was told that my car would NOT be under warranty.  Gavin, I believe, quoted 585.00 for the labor.  (I wonder how much they would have charged for the part.)  My friend who did the diagnostic said another Transmission Shop would probably fix it for “between 400 and 600.”  Knowing what I did I said no.

Today, I called another service guy, Eric at  Auto Air & Associates, who DID have the time & room to do the work.  He looked at it and thought that the car was under warranty.  As I assured him that I was the original owner, he also told me that there was another Hyundai Dealer on the island.  He took the time to read the warranty and double-checked.  It was clear.  It was under warranty.

As I called Hyundai Windward, Edison, in Service took care of me.  He checked the warranty, twice and asked me for the 3rd time at least, whether I was the original owner.  I assure him I was.

It IS under warranty.  Now, there possibly could be more work once they get in there,  BUT, if I had left it at Tony, I believe I would be out 1 thousand for starters.  I believe they knew the warranty facts, based on previous experiences with them.

I owe Eric for his help obviously.

Tony has lost my service business, the next new car I buy or lease, the next new car my wife buys (or leases) and any after that.  We LOVE Hyundai, but it takes more than a great saleperson to satsify my wife and I.

I like your call to have Rail Supporters speak up. Let me help you.
There is nothing for them to say other than “Build it already.”

Everyone thinks that it will get riders,   just not them.  No one will
ride it enough to make it worth the disastrous financial conse-
quences it will cause to us, our children, and our children’s chil-
dren.

There is only HOPE that it will ease traffic.  A noted expert, Walter
(I believe) Yoshioka said that it will not, EVER.

There is the HOPE of thousands of jobs.  The article by the oppos-
itiion, or as Howard Dicus likes to call us, the ‘Asphalt Huggers’
said that there would be 633 jobs added, MAYBE 933.  That is
not thousands using my old HS Math.  I already know of mainland
people that have moved her for the Rail jobs.  They have opened
accounts at the Bank of Hawaii in Moili’ili.  Now rather than angrily
repeat old employment estimates, why not accurately break them
down for us Mayor Carlisle.  I know you inherited the bully techn-
iques from Mufi, but there are a ton of smart people and I believe they
are now waking up to what is real here.

Which brings me to one of the big concerns which is rarely debated.
Why??????
1.  Do we owe the world the opportunity to move to our, gorgeous,
paradise island chain here in the middle of the Pacific.  Do we just
roll over and say, yep c’mon in, we’ll pave over some more Ag land
and build some more schools for you, and hey, can you just SAY
you will take that darn Rail.
2.  Do we feel the need to relocate thousands or people and then tons
of businesses to EVENTUALLY have enough population near the
Rail lines to make it viable.
3.  Why do we OWE the construction workers the right to do construc-
tion jobs here on Oahu.  If there is no work, there is NO WORK.  Move
to Las Vegas and pour concrete and build stuff for the next 80 years,
already.  Or hey I have an idea.  Learn a new trade.  Are we that weak
and the unions that strong?
4.  WHY don’t we get to the bottom of the Rail Debacle anyway?  Many if
not ALL supporters are/were big contributors of CASH to Mufi and then
Carlisle.  I would love to live in a state that I did not feel was that corrupt,
but the proof is in the pudding.
5.  Why don’t you think about the reality of riding the Rail for yourself.
Remember take extra time to get up early to get to the station to park,
(if there is one for you.)  You may need change to pay for the parking.
There may be no spots, oh well, drive.  Allow for the extra time that you
will need at the other end.  Keep in mind you may need an umbrella
too.  You will be standing most of the way, no relaxing.  Enjoy the view,
knowing that thousands of businesses, and homes and people will have
lost their view to sacrifice for this monstrosity.)  There is no money to
pay for maintenance, how safe does it feel the 2nd year, the 3rd, and so
on.  There is no money for security at the parking lot (if there was one) so
HOPE your vehicle is safe there

By the way, make sure those that say they support it would actually ride
it OFTEN.  (I know of no one who will.)  And, be wary of those who are
supporting just because they have a connection to the trades that THINK
they will benefit, or may actually benefit.

PS I am not against Rail due to ’special interests.” I am not a father of kids
or therefore grandkids that will be negatively disadvantaged due to this.  My
wife and I are not poor, so we will have the option to move to Big Island, or
Maui, or wherever when things get bad here.  And lastly we chose to live
in a part of town that costs more knowing that we do not have to be int that
drive.  Our choice.  That’s why we pay more.  Our townhouse would be
cheaper (though not as nice) in Kapolei, but that is the choice we made.

That’s about it.  When my wife, Dr. Malia and I talk to people about their lives, two things keep popping up.  Now, she’s the Dr. and obviously her focus is usually nutrition, body structure, injury issues, weight and emotional concerns.  As Health & Wellness coaches, we both are interested in others’ issues.

You know how many if not most people are concerned about their health?  It’s true.  Whether they realize their diet is junk, or junk food.  Or they absolutely see that their weight has to change.  (Usually downward.)  Maybe it’s Diabetes, or the need to be more regular, or needing more energy, or wanting better moods and relief from depression.  Maybe they work out and want to recover quicker.

Y’all know that the big Pharma Cartels get away with murder.  Actually 200 BILLION Dollars worth of prescriptions were sold in a recent year.  2005, I believe.  There is a breakdown as to what types of meds and I will leave that for another blog.  I spent 15 dollars this year so far, and that is far below the average per citizen of 833.33 dollars (per year.) 

As I speak there is a commercial for Lipozene.  Meanwhile Dr. Malia and I know that there are better products out there because we have been working with them.  However they are not advertised on TV due to the massive cost undertaking such a campaign.  MLM allows regular people like you and I to share the passion we all have for these cutting edge products.

Now, to get this out of the way, I am NOT a Dr. but I sleep with one (every night.)  She does know about nutrition, as well as the whole body.  The focus of a Holistic Chirpractor is to get to the root cause of issues, to get the body to a place where it can heal itself.

Medical Drs, or Internal Medicine Specialists prescribe drugs to treat symptoms.  They don’t get paid to find root causes most of the time.  In fact the Pharma Cartels have elaborate systems so they can distribute drugs to doctors who will gladly prescribe them after they have given out samples.

My good friend, who used to work in a group home where different types of medically challenged residents lived, shared this.  “The reps would come in with doughnuts and drug samples.  It was commonplace, once a month.” 

It’s been many years and the Pharma Cartels are lovin’ their status in the United States.

But guess what?  Even though they seem to be winning the war for the lives of the citizens, alternatives have been here and been here for longer.  Despite the Cartels’ efforts to make natural and alternative methods illegal, there are a whole lot of us.  We know that nutrition, exercise, drinking Green (to alkalyze the body), keeping weight under conrol, eliminating the bad stuff, see below, and many other practises keep the MDs away.

Now, the list of ‘bad stuff’ should include:

Tobacco/Cigarettes, White Flour, White Salt, White Sugar, deep fried foods, dairy, canned foods (high in salt), SODA, too much alcohol, or caffeine.  Ice Cream, meats with their Nitrates and Nitrites.  And no matter what you eat, it’s bad to eat too quickly and for those (of us) who have a problem stopping what we are eating when we are full.

By the way, I didn’t say I was perfect, did I?  Certainly, I am working on my food issues.

Update:  Today, Sunday the 21st of August the Star-Advertiser FINALLY printed a solid article written by Hawaiian champions who happen to be against the Rail.  The paper had chosen NOT to print my last Letter to the Editor so I stopped writing them.   PLEASE READ the article in the Insight section.  I have been saying many of the things they share in this article for months.

Obviously the authors and guys that are bringing the lawsuit to try to bring Oahu to its senses-to STOP Rail, have more credibility than I do.  Heck, one’s a past Governor, Ben Cayetano.  So, please read that section.  If then you are still FOR Rail, then I would suggest that you live nowhere near where all the devastation, traffic jams, ruining of the view and constant noise will be happening along the route.  Either that, or you are a contractor that is getting money from the project.

Honolulu Magazine has a great, and I feel fair article about the Rail Project here on Oahu. I know the Rail Pushers won’t like it, because it brings things into the light. I understand how they want to fall back on the flawed public opinion vote that showed that 53% favored rail a few years back. If intelligent people of Oahu see even a portion of the whole picture I am confident they will rise up in protest.  Maybe someday, MOST of the backroom dealings, the costs that WILL go up, and the agreements/contracts awarded or promised will come to light.

I disagree with my friend Doug Chin.  Here’s his statement FOR Rail.  “This is going to make our city look great.  This is how the next generation is going to transport themselves.”  (Check that statement against the article I have mentioned…..)

First of all, a man who has children, to me, should have a say in this.  I don’t have kids, but I am deeply concerned about the future this will impact.

Doug, when your children are in their mid-twenties, the Rail MIGHT be done.  If they happen to live near enough to a station and choose to ride it, it will then really depend on a number of factors.  If the stars align and it is convenient for them at that time, yay.  Good for them.  No matter what, they are going to be paying for it.  The cost increases, the maintenance, the delayed construction that always happens here, the lawsuits that are attempting to stop it, even the firms that will be spraypainting over the grafitti that is plastered on the columns.  These plus other issues await.

They will be in a severe minority, or perhaps 2% of Oahu residents who COULD ride regularly.  This is my guess based on the small population ‘out there’ combined with a bunch of factors.  How many live near enough to the proposed stations to make it work.  Will there be parking?  Will it cost every day?  Will those people give up their freedom to complete other errands after work, in town that day?  Will they agree to stand the whole way-a real concern?  When the Rail gets to town, how far is their job/business from that stop?  Will they need a cab?  What if it’s raining when they get there?

How many in Waipahu will have their lives negatively impacted by the squealing of the steel on steel wheels that Heavy Rail uses?  What about the Federal Courthouse.  Rail will go within feet of that structure.

And there’s a reason why the judges have avoided this lawsuit-they are all against the Rail plans to almost bump up against that huge Federal Building as it makes it’s route toaards Ala Moana.  Of course THAT trial will be in San Francisco.  Maybe Hawaiian Air will offer free roundtrips to the attorneys for the trial period.  (NOT)

Doug I respectfully disagree.  I think like in the Bible, we will be the foolish builder and Oahu will be laughed at for this huge folly.  The bill will keep  coming and coming and coming for future generations (the grandkids) as well.

Anyone that would like to see this project being brought more into the light, let’s get the word out.  The propaganda machine that pushed this through on the ballot has done great harm to the island already.

I’m the I Got a Guy Guy.  Not the original, of course.  But the new I Got a Guy Guy.  The original was Tommy, an Italian guy in Chicago.  Everyone in his family and neighborhood knew he could get something or someone when you were in need.

Another famous I Got a Guy Guy was Radar in M.A.S.H.  Lost a couple of you didn’t I?.  (Tommy was cooler.)

If you needed cable TV, He had a guy.  Want a dish, He had a guy.  Want to know how to rub a steak just right before you grilled it.  He was the guy.

And, when it started snowing in Chicago, He WAS the guy.  He was the one that told the snowplows where to go.  He routed them up and down the streets of the Windy City until the snow was removed.  He was the first one there and often, turned offf the lights when he left.  You could count on Tommy.

I can’t be as good as Tommy.  His legend lives on.  But I am a sorta hybrid I Got a Guy Guy.  I can do some things.  Now, I really want to share that if I don’t know something, or I DON’T got a guy-I will tell you.

But if you want a good restaurant in Honolulu, I got a guy.  You want to ship a motorcycle anywhere in the US to anywhere else, I got a guy.  You want to hear a story about that lost decade from 1975 to 1985, I can tell a few (true) stories.

Lower your golf score, not so much.  Find a golf course on Oahu, THAT I can do.
